What Is the William & Mary Pre-College Online Program?

The William & Mary Pre-College Online Program gives high school students an opportunity to study topics before college. This learning experience features a simple application process that requires no letters of recommendation or transcripts — you just provide basic information and explain your personal goals for wanting to take the course.

Each course offers flexible learning featuring dynamic videos, widgets and knowledge checks that allow you to dive into potential college majors at your own pace from anywhere in the world. Depending on the time of year, you can choose from multi-length cohorts that work with your schedule: one-week, two-week or four-week sessions.

Regardless of the course you select, every session provides the exact same high-quality instructional content and expert mentor support. Upon finishing all your assignments and your Final Project, you will earn an official Certificate of Completion from William & Mary — an excellent milestone to feature on upcoming university applications.

How does the William & Mary Pre-College Online Program work?

Flexible Learning

Courses are structured around dynamic videos, widgets and knowledge checks designed by W&M professors. Since each course is fully asynchronous, there are no required live sessions. You can review lessons at any time and work through assignments at your own pace, entirely online and on your own terms — no matter your time zone or how busy your schedule is.

Dedicated Course Mentorship

You won't have to navigate your learning journey alone. Every student in our pre-college courses is paired with a dedicated mentor who provides continuous guidance, encouragement and personalized feedback on your assignments throughout the entire cohort.

The Final Project

Every course culminates in a Final Project, allowing you to showcase your new knowledge. You will demonstrate what you have learned through an independent presentation or project in a creative format of your choosing, receiving valuable insights from your mentor upon completion.

What subjects can students study?

The W&M Pre-College Online Program offers a curated selection of courses designed to help you explore potential majors and career goals. You can choose an individual course to focus on a single passion or enroll in multiple courses across the year to discover brand new pathways.
